President's Report

Dear Travel Professionals,

Education!  Networking!  Community involvement!   Our GBTA chapter is focused on these three areas.  Through our monthly meetings, it our goal to provide educational content that is valuable to every attendee.  With our continued success in membership growth, we provide a forum to network with industry peers to share information.  In addition, we are committed to giving back to our community through fundraising and volunteer efforts.

Exciting news!   Our Chapter will be hosting our first Education Day beginning on September 18th with an opening reception followed by a full day of education on September 19th.  The full agenda will be announced shortly!

Please join us at a 2018 meeting to experience first-hand everything that we offer for both you and your organization. Please feel free to reach out to me with ideas, feedback or questions you may have about the chapter.  Your input and support is vital to our chapter’s success!  Thank you for your interest and support. I look forward to seeing you all at the 2018 GBTA Nebraska Iowa Chapter Meetings.

GBTA Government Relations: The Voice of the Business Travel Industry

GBTA advocates for policies that better the business travel industry. With more than 9,000 global members, regional partners, 39 local chapters and affiliates, and a network of 30,000 business travel and meetings professionals, GBTA is the voice of the global business travel industry. GBTA actively speaks out on policy issues across the globe and frequently meets with representatives in Washington, D.C. and Brussels in an effort to advance the business travel industry.

Government Relations advocates policies that benefit the business travel industry. Along with GBTA members across the country, we educate members of Congress and governments abroad, their staff, and executive branch officials about:

  • How business travel stimulates economic and jobs growth
  • Pro-Business Travel Government policies
  • Benefits of efficient travel buying and selling
  • Government policies and taxes that discourage or impede business travel

One of GBTA’s most important voices is our chapters. GBTA has 39 chapters and affiliates across the country. GBTA’s chapters are important association constituencies. GBTA hosts regular “Travel Talk” Roundtables with members of Congress and their staff to educate them on issues that affect business travel.

Each year, GBTA Chapters and Affiliates raise funds for the GBTA Political Action Committee (PAC).  Our Chapter will be participating this year in The 12th Annual Government Relations Challenge!  We will be having opportunities for members to win prizes at each meeting through the purchase of raffle tickets as well as a GRAND PRIZE at our July social event!

The GBTA PAC fights to:

• Lower Travel Taxes

• Create a Better Infrastructure

• Defend Passenger Rights

Our PAC supports representatives on both sides of the aisle that champion travel issues. Simply put, GBTA advocacy helps keep business moving.
